Independent Education Evaluations (IEE)
Schools may approve independent evaluations (auditory language processing evaluations) to determine whether auditory and/or language-processing deficits are contributing to a child’s school behaviors and performance. Evaluations involve several visits and may be billed to the school district pending pre-approval and a contractual agreement arranged by the school district with Maxine Young. Comprehensive reports are done in order to assist in the development of an educational plan at school.
Children who are evaluated and identified as having auditory and/or language processing problems often experience learning difficulties and/or perform poorly in the classroom. Parents may want to discuss the language learning IEP (Individualized Educational Program) with Maxine Young. In some cases, a record review is necessary in order to better understand the child’s needs. School observations and attendance at IEP meetings may be arranged through the office for children evaluated by Maxine Young.
School Site Visits
Parents whose children are on our therapy caseload, or who have been given comprehensive evaluations may request a school site visit. This may involve classroom observation, meeting with teachers and support staff, and/or requests may be made for participation at an IEP meeting. Arrangements for school visits must be made in advance and are done as time and scheduling permits.
Children who are evaluated and identified as having auditory and/or language processing problems often experience learning difficulties and/or perform poorly in the classroom. An IEP (Individualized Educational Program) can be generally described as a document and/or agreement between school and parents, developed by the public school system in which support is specified and goals are set. This agreement will state whether a child is eligible to receive support services, what support services are being offered, who will provide them, how those services will be delivered, and how progress will be measured. Parents whose children are evaluated through my services may chose to have me serve as an independent professional to assist them in evaluating IEP goals. School observations and attendance at IEP meetings can be arranged and are done as schedule permits.
Appointments can be made so that previous test results and records can be reviewed to help parents determine how to use that information to make decisions such as: a) whether additional assessment is necessary; b) whether recommended therapies and/or interventions are appropriate; and c) whether school programming, support services and academic placement are appropriate. Parent’s may also request to have their child’s progress and support services monitored or reviewed periodically, after then having been evaluated at this office. Visits are scheduled on an as-needed basis.
